PSA: Announcement from Special Education Department

Deming Public Schools offers evaluations to parents who have concerns about their children’s developmental, academic, or behavioral  progress for children ages 3 to 21. Children who reside in Deming, Columbus, and Luna County may be referred for testing and consideration for Special Education Services. This includes children who are: homeless, homeschooled, wards of the state, children placed in facilities, or children in private and public schools. If you feel your child might be a child with a disability and in need of services, please contact the Deming Public Schools Special Education Department at 575-546-0427.


PSA: Bus Transportation Announcement Bus # 1

Due to bus driver shortage, Bus # 1 will not be running this afternoon Tuesday, August 30, 2022. Parents/Guardians of students who ride Bus # 1 will need to make other transportation arrangements. If you have any questions, please contact the Transportation Department at (575) 543-1009 or TransportationDept@demingps.org.

If you or anyone you know is interested in driving a school bus, please reach out to our school district’s transportation office for more information.


PSA: Announcement from Athletic and Activities Department

For the safety of our community and our fans, no backpacks or oversized bags will be permitted at any Deming Public School Athletic Events. Purses of reasonable size will be allowed. Anyone with a backpack or oversized bag will be asked to return the bag to their vehicle.

Tickets for all events held at any Deming Public School Facility are only sold digitally through GoFan.co, no cash will be accepted for entrance. Tickets can be purchased by searching Deming High School or Red Mountain Middle School on the GoFan.co website. We highly recommend purchasing tickets before arriving at any event.

QR codes will be available at the entrance of all venues, for fans who have not purchased tickets prior to an event. Once arriving, tickets will be shown and redeemed by event staff at the door. Please do not redeem tickets prior to arriving. If a ticket is redeemed prior to arrival, the ticket is no longer valid, and a new ticket must be purchased.

No outside food or drink will be allowed in the gym. Concession stands will be open for spectators at Deming High School and Red Mountain Middle School.  For questions, please contact Deming High School Athletic Department at (575) 546-8126.


ATTENTION DEMING HIGH SCHOOL PARENTS/STUDENTS! IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Starting September 7, 2022, Deming High School and Mimbres Valley High students will be required to wear their school issued ID to enter campus and ride school buses. Per DHS/Mimbres Valley High ID procedures, students will be required to wear ID badges on a lanyard around their neck. When wearing a jacket or hoodie, the ID with lanyard should be visible on the outside of the jacket/hoodie. Although entrance to DHS/Mimbres campus and ID busing requirement officially starts Sept. 7, ALL students will be required to wear their ID on campus as soon as ID is issued to student.

Starting August 8, 2022, Deming High School will have only two main entry points on campus starting at 7:30 am. All students will be required to enter through the front of DHS main building (entrance between main building and Hofacket, right behind flag poles or cafeteria side entrance on west end of main building (for students riding bus or coming from student parking lot). For students being dropped off by parents, please keep in mind that front entrance will not be opened until 7:30 am for students to enter the building.

 About Deming Public Schools

Deming Public Schools is a public school district headquartered in Deming, New Mexico. It is the fifteenth largest school district in New Mexico. Located 33 miles north of the US-Mexico border, it serves the City of Deming, the village of Columbus as well as other areas in rural Luna County.

The Deming district has 12 schools: one Pre-K school; six elementary schools; one sixth-grade school; one middle school (7th-8th); two high schools; and one college preparatory high school. DPS has 6 multi-age JUMP classrooms (K-2nd) in 4 elementary schools. The district also offers bilingual/dual-language programs and Preschool on many campuses.

Student enrollment is approximately 5,200 students.

Deming Public Schools is the largest employer in Luna County with approximately 813 employees.
