Deming Public Schools central cafeteria is undergoing repairs for gas lines. Out of an abundance of caution to address the issue completely and thoroughly, the district is completely replacing gas lines in order to restore gas service. Central cafeteria provides meals for My Little School, Bell Elementary, Chaparral Elementary, and Memorial Elementary. We anticipate the repairs to be completed by Wednesday, August 23, 2023, and hope to be approved by inspection before the end of the week.
In order to allow for repairs the district has prepared an alternative cold meal menu for the school sites be served by central cafeteria. Although the meals are considered cold, school site cafeteria staff are to use warmers for the meals prior to serving at each school. This menu is only temporary to allow for the repairs to be completed. Please see the attached menu.
If there are any unanticipated delays in completing repairs that allow for a safe working environment, the district will reorganize meal preparation and distribution from other school site cafeterias in order to restart hot meal service no later than Tuesday, September 5, 2023.
