Eligibility for School Bus Transportation
Deming Public Schools provides transportation services to students attending their assigned school of residence within their designated attendance boundary, based on the distance from the student's registered home address.
Students who receive special education services and have an Individual Education Plan (IEP) must also attend their school of residence unless the IEP specifically designates a different placement or transportation requirement.
Distance Requirements by Grade Level

Grades Kâ5 (Elementary):
Students living 1 mile or more from their assigned school are eligible for transportation.

Grades 6â8 (Middle School):
Students living 1.5 miles or more from their assigned school are eligible.

Grades 9â12 (High School):
Students living 2 miles or more from their assigned school are eligible.

Kâ8 Schools (Combined):
Students living 1.5 miles or more from their assigned school are eligible.
Out-of-Zone Transportation
Transportation will not be provided for students attending a school outside of their designated attendance boundary.
Parents or guardians who choose to enroll their student in a school outside their assigned attendance boundary are responsible for arranging and providing their own transportation.
