Deming High School MESA Students Excel at New Mexico Governor’s STEM Challenge

More than 400 high school students from 41 schools across New Mexico gathered at the University of New Mexico Student Union Building Saturday, January 20, 2024, to present their projects at the annual New Mexico Governor’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Challenge. Chaparral New Drop-off and Pick-up Locations
01/03/2024
In consideration of safety and more efficient traffic flow, buses will have a new drop-off and pick-up location beginning Monday, January 8, 2024. School buses will now operate in the front of the school, utilizing the drive-through on Holly Street. Personal vehicles will not be allowed in the drive-through bus area from 7:30 to 8:05 AM and from 2:30 to 3:30 PM. No student drop-off or pick-up will be allowed at the front of the school during these times due to bus traffic and safety concerns.

When Magali Gomez walked into the Ruben S. Torres Elementary School gymnasium this morning for a school assembly, she was expecting to cheer on her students as they received accolades for improved attendance rates. Instead, she was the one being celebrated as Dr. Jane Foley, Milken Educator Awards senior vice president, New Mexico Lieutenant Governor Howie Morales and Dr. Arsenio Romero, New Mexico secretary of public education, surprised Gomez with the 2023 Milken Educator Award.
