Welcome to Our New Bataan Elementary Principal
09/09/2024
Deming Public Schools is excited to welcome our newest addition, Ms. Daena Davis as the Principal of Bataan Elementary. Ms. Davis is highly qualified with 25 years in education, a degree from Western New Mexico University in Elementary Education K-8, Leadership Administration License, and endorsements in Bilingual and TESOL. Ms. Davis started her career at Deming Public Schools as a 5th grade Bilingual Teacher at Smith Elementary. “Deming Public Schools was the best place to start my career, I love that Deming had so many different supports for new teachers. Administration really took the time to help and guide new teachers, I really appreciated it.” said Ms. Davis. After teaching in Deming, Ms. Davis spent time as a middle school teacher in Las Vegas, Nevada for a couple of years until her family decided to come back to small town life in New Mexico. During the 18-year tenure with Cobre Consolidated Schools, Ms. Davis held many positions from teaching to administration. Then turning full circle back to Deming Public Schools, Ms. Davis came to us last year as our English Learners Content Specialist.

Molina Healthcare of New Mexico (“Molina”) and State Rep. Jenifer Jones (R-32) recently teamed up to support Deming Public Schools students as they head into the new school year. In Deming, 26% of children under the age of 18 live in poverty. To support children returning to school and ensure every student is prepared with the proper supplies, Molina donated spiral notebooks, backpacks, packages of college ruled paper, and crayon packages.
