Lockdown at Ruben S. Torres Elementary

Deming Public Schools wants to inform the public that today, September 22, 2023, Ruben S. Torres Elementary administration was alerted to a potential weapon on campus. In partnership with local law enforcement the school site went into lockdown. An individual, not associated with the schools, was arrested outside of the school building, and never gained entry or access to any of the facility. All students and staff were safe and secure in the building.
Deming Public Schools continues to be committed to safety and applauds the staff and law enforcement for their quick response to following safety protocols.
