School Bus

With the beginning of a new school year, Deming Public Schools would like to remind parents and guardians to expect delays due to students getting used to their new bus schedules. We appreciate students arriving to their bus stop and ready to load 10-15 minutes prior to the scheduled stop time. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

We would also like to remind the community to obey traffic laws and to use caution around school buses.

As our students head to and from school every day remember these important safety rules.

• Recognize school zones
• Reduce your speed when traveling through school zones and watch for children
• Expect increased traffic in and around school zones
• Be aware of and cautious of pedestrian crosswalks in school zones
• Obey crossing guards, traffic officers, and policeman
• Be on the lookout for school buses
• Prepare to stop when a slowing school bus flashes its overhead yellow lights
• It’s the law to STOP at least 20 feet away from school buses when red lights are flashing
• Never pass a stopped school bus

With your help, we can keep our children safe. If you have any questions, please contact the Transportation Department at (575) 543-1009 or [email protected].
