Red Mountain Middle School has been accepted as Deming Public School's first community school.
A community school is a whole child, comprehensive strategy to transform schools into places where educators, local community members, families, and students work together to strengthen conditions for student learning and healthy development. As partners, they organize in and out of school resources, supports, and opportunities so that our students thrive. The New Mexico Community School model closely follows research and up-to-date data on outcomes for Community Schools. The community school strategy has 6 key practices: Powerful Student and Family Engagements, Collaborative Leadership, Shared Power and Voice, Expanded Culturally Enriched Learning Opportunities, Rigorous Community Connected Classroom and Instruction, Culture of Belonging Safety and Care, and Integrated Systems of Support.
